What does FAQ stand for?
Either; “Funky Asian Quail” or “Fanatical About Queen”.
Does anyone ever read FAQ pages?
No, you are the first.
What’s the deal with Oracle? Is it a webcomic or something?
Oracle is a graphic novel that I’m publishing on the web, at least until its big enough to wrap a shiny cover around. It updates once a week, on Sundays, and lives at Samsara Comics.
“Graphic Novel”? What, are you too good to just call it a damned webcomic?
“Graphic Novel”, (officially the worlds most useless term), just means that Oracle has a beginning, middle and end. Its not an ongoing premise, its one story. Otherwise, yes, its a webcomic: published on the internet, drawn by a geek with no life.
How do you draw/tone/letter Oracle?
Slowly. Actually, I made some video’s showing different parts of the process; check them out on MastermanTV.
What’s that thing around Lydia’s eye?
Its a tattoo of the greek letter omega. The significance of this will emerge in the story.
Could Pelopidas kick some major ass if he wanted to?
Oh yeah.
So, Lydia is from the future… but the story takes place in the past… wait, what’s going on?
Lydia is born in the 36th century C.E. (that means Common Era, its the same as A.D.). She travels to the 14th century C.E., which is when the events of the story take place. While the premise contains time-travel, the actual story does not.
So if Lydia meets and accidentally kills her own ancestor…?
There are a number of good theoretical explanations for such an eventuality. I prefer a literary one: deus ex machina. Lydia is in the past because its sort of the ultimate “foreign territory”. The story is NOT about the ins and outs of time travel (not that there’s anything wrong with that). So these types of “killing your own grandfather” situations simply won’t come up.
Isn’t that a cop-out?
Um, yes. Next?
Is Oracle made completely digitally, or are there hand-drawn originals?
While much of the process is digital, there are pencil originals.
Cool. Can I have one?
Depending on which one you want, Oracle pages are for sale (sometimes I get attached to particular pages). Contact me through AdamMasterman.com.
Can I commission you to draw Lydia wrestling with Princess Leia?
You wouldn’t be the first. AdamMasterman.com has a commissions page.
I’m a Republican, worried that you cartoonists are all going to end up on state assistance. Is there anything I can do to keep you off the dole?
The best way to help Oracle is just to spread the word. If you have a friend who you think would like it, send him a link. If you are especially moved, you can vote for Oracle at Top100Webcomics.com, as often as once a day depending on your zeal.
